Hi, I'm Sharon — creator, teacher, and toddler mom behind Happilees.
In early 2025, I started Happilees as a creative outlet — something I deeply missed after stepping away from the classroom as a teacher of 5+ years before having my son.
While becoming a mom brought me immeasurable joy and purpose, I found myself longing to nurture the side of me that thrives on creativity, learning, and inspiration — and to bring that same value I once shared with parents in the classroom to moms navigating their own journeys. So I started sharing DIYs, simple crafts, and sensory activities, the same way I would with my students.
One of my biggest struggles early on was raising a toddler without my village nearby. With my parents and close friends living on the other side of the country, it often felt impossible to find moments to myself.
I worried that relying on screens would become unavoidable as a way to carve out breaks — especially when exhaustion and sleep deprivation made everything feel overwhelming. At the same time, it didn't align with my values as a parent to use screen time as the default solution.
Over time, I realized my philosophy doesn't have to be black and white. Screen time isn't "bad" — it just doesn't need to be the only option. I believe there are simple, meaningful ways to engage toddlers and enjoy time with them during the day without relying on screens as a crutch.
I started including my toddler in my day instead of "entertaining" him, and the difference was evident. Not only did he feel more confident and engaged, but I also began to see the impact of my role in shaping how he views himself as he grows.
what happilees is about
Happilees is a mix of everything on my mind — what I'm experiencing, learning, and loving. You'll find screen-free play ideas, minimal-prep activities, tips for creating inviting play spaces, easy family meal ideas, my favourite products, home systems that actually work to lessen the mental load, and guidance on raising confident, capable, independent kids.
More than anything, I hope this space inspires, empowers, and encourages you as a parent — a place you can always come back to for ideas, encouragement, and community.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here!
♡ Sharon
